As part of our awareness- and fundraising activities, we have carried out various activities over the last few months in different parts of Spain. Such events are essential to disseminate Asha-Kiran’s social work and to raise the funds that make the continuity of our projects possible.
On October 15, we participated in the 10th Solidarity Festival of Premià del Dalt, Barcelona. Hundreds of people came to meet us and learn more about our projects in India.
On October 16, we held our Annual Solidarity Dinner at Ecocentro Madrid for the Rainbow Home project. This year, the celebration was extra special because it is also A-K’s 10th anniversary. More than sixty people dined with us, and we wish to thank Teresa Escoza, Teo Palomo and Ravi Sharma, who spiced up the evening with Indian dances and music.
On October 21, we were part of a group of organizations that met in Donostia-San Sebastián for the VI Guipúzcoa Solidarity Forum organized by Kutxa Fundazioa. Dozens of people came to hear about our social endeavors in a festive day we shared with 32 other organizations.
On October 26, we launched Uttam Módenes’ “Eyes to see” Photography Exhibition at Tibet House Foundation in Barcelona, where we were invited by Lama Wangchen, whose words accompanied us during the presentation. Many people are now getting to know us through the faces and eyes of the Indian children portrayed in these photographs.
This year, we joined the global Giving Tuesday movement. November 28th is a day to think about others and collaborate with different social causes. We presented the challenge Streets are not the best school on the platform My grain of sand (Mi granito de arena) to raise €3,000 that will go to fulfill the needs of the girls who live at Rainbow Home, and also to welcome more girls in need of a home rather than the streets they now live in.
On November 2, 3, 4 and 5, Asha-Kiran participated in the 28th Antique Car Route of Almeria, an exhibition of beautiful old vehicles organized by the Antique Car Club of Almeria. Part of the collection will be destined to our projects.
These actions would not be possible without the help of the volunteers who support us through their selfless work.
There will be more activities this year, and 2018 will bring even more. Stay tuned!
